Special Olympics fights childhood obesity with grants due January 19

Special Olympics and Youth Service America are awarding Get Into It grants that bring together students of all abilities to fight childhood obesity. Grants of US$500 or US$1,000 will help create and implement youth-led service-learning programs to fight childhood obesity. A teacher and a unified pair of students—one with and one without an intellectual disability—must complete the application together, submitting it by midnight January 19, 2011. Get Into It grant projects launch on Spread the Word to End the Word Day, March 2, and finish on Global Youth Service Day, April 15-17. Check out the resources and the application at www.YSA.org/getintoit.
