Aktion Club meets fundraising challenge for The Eliminate Project

Written by David Coulter, Aktion Club representative to The Eliminate Project

How many ways can you say thank you to Aktion Club members and their advisors for the tremendous efforts in raising funds for The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus? I remember the Training and Leadership Conference in Indianapolis in 2011, when John Button (now the Kiwanis International president) talked to attendees—and challenged us to be  part of The Eliminate Project. Stuart McCormick was one of the people who inspired us to take part, and he led the effort, representing Aktion Clubs.

Two years ago, I stepped in as the Aktion Club representative. Last November, I made a challenge to raise a total of US$100,000 by the time the 2015 Kiwanis International Convention began in June. Thanks to your dedication, we made it: as of the most recent report, you have raised more than $120,000!

During the final months of The Eliminate Project, let’s challenge all Aktion Clubs to boost fundraising efforts with a goal of receiving an Elimidallion to an advisor, an Aktion Club member, or any other honoree. You will need to have raised at least US$625, saving or protecting more than 347 lives. What you need to do? Send in the Kiwanis-family giving form together with your check, and order your award with the Kiwanis International Foundation.  It is that easy.

Follow the example of many other Aktion clubs, such as the Algona Aktion Club who just awarded seven Elimidallions with the funds raised at their Aktion Club Olympics. Make the lifesaving fundraising count and say 'Thank You for Saving Lives' - with an Elimidallion. Capture the moment!
