Breakthrough and Aktion

During the first week of the new year, 19 members of Key Club—the Kiwanis-family program for high school students—participated in the first-ever Breakthrough program in Miami, Florida. Hailing from communities throughout the U.S. and Canada, the students got a weeklong chance to serve the Miami community, learn from one another, speak with city officials and tour culturally rich areas of the city.

During a visit to the WOW Center of Miami, they attended an Aktion Club meeting and completed a service project with the club’s members—painting parking curbs and generally getting to know each other. The Key Clubbers also participated in the Aktion Club’s Happy Quarters activity, in which Aktion Club members and Breakthrough participants donated a quarter to share what they were most happy about.

The Breakthrough participants send their thanks to the Aktion Club of the WOW Center for an unforgettable experience.
