Interested in building club membership? Use these Aktion Club recruitment strategies:
- Create promotional materials that highlight the benefits. Focus on the skills members master, the friendships they establish, the community service they explore and the Kiwanis family relationships they develop. Remember to include the club’s vision and goals.
- Use existing Aktion Club member recruitment resources:
-
- Use ready-made membership recruitment flyers and posters to promote your club.
- Get ideas from the Kiwanis club membership form (Kids Need Kiwanis brochure) to create your own Aktion Club version for people interested in becoming members.
- Order Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs brochures to distribute. The brochure shows how Aktion Club is part of the Kiwanis family.
- Encourage members to invite friends to club meetings. Have club members create a list of friends and their favorite activities. Create a “bring-a-friend” event. As a group, review the friend lists and decide on a few activities to do at the event. Make sure to connect at least one of the activities to service. For example, if crafting is a popular activity theme, consider creating an item through crafting that can be donated to help a cause.
- Host ‘Help Our Community’ events. Organize fun, welcoming service events scheduled at the same time bimonthly. Invite community members to attend. Provide an online volunteer sign-up form with a variety of participation options. The more flexibility is offered, the more likely others are to participate.
- Build your club’s online presence. Use Kiwanis International’s easy-to-use club website tool. Also consider posting on social media. Research what social media outlets prospective members use most and promote your Aktion Club there.
- Partner with other community organizations. Increase your Aktion Club’s visibility by establishing relationships with other organizations whose objectives and goals align with ours — and by hosting joint events with them.
