Through Aktion Club contests, members use their skills and share insights into what Aktion Club life is like. Here are things to remember as your club works on contest entries.

Scrapbook Contest: Decide which type of scrapbook your club will submit for the contest: digital (created using online software like Canva) or nondigital (created using a traditional scrapbook or binder, colored paper, photos, added artwork and more). Gather images, flyers and more to create the scrapbook, dividing it into two sections — club life and service. This year, nondigital scrapbooks cannot be mailed! Take images of each page and put them into a PowerPoint presentation, or take a video of the scrapbook, flipping and showing each page clearly. Then you’ll submit the scrapbook file with your entry form.

Video Contest: Create a video about this year’s topic: the story of your club’s favorite service project completed this year. Have members choose. Then decide how to tell the story. Will you use images from the project, or will a member or group of members talk about it? Be sure the project description includes:

  1. How your club identified the need/cause.
  2. Goals your club had for the project.
  3. Who the project served.
  4. What your club accomplished or the impact the project had.

Speech Contest: This year’s topic is what a member has learned about their community through Aktion Club. The speech must be completely written and delivered by the member and must be between two and four minutes long.

Poster Contest: Don’t create something new! Choose one poster from a service project your club completed this year that promotes a cause or a community need — and that explains how people can help. Scan or take an image of the poster that you’ll submit with your entry form.

For contests program overall, here are some other things to keep in mind:

  • A club can submit only one entry in each contest category. If you have more than one member who wants to compete in the speech contest, then the club or advisor must select one to be entered in the Kiwanis International awards competition.
  • You’ll need a club YouTube or Vimeo account to share the videos for the Video Contest, Speech Contest and possibly the Scrapbook Contest.
